Fresh-Milled Bread, Pastries & Real Food in Waynesville, NC

Farm to Cake Bakery | Historic Hazelwood • Waynesville, North Carolina

At Farm to Cake, we believe good food starts with real ingredients, careful craftsmanship, and a slower approach to baking.

Located in Historic Hazelwood in Waynesville, Farm to Cake is a scratch bakery serving Western North Carolina with fresh-milled breads, artisan sourdough, pastries, bagels, savory foods, and handcrafted desserts made fresh each week.

What began years ago as a wedding and specialty cake bakery has evolved into something bigger: everyday food made with purpose.

Fresh-Milled Bread Made the Old-Fashioned Way

Bread has become the heart of what we do.

We mill organic whole grains fresh in-house for many of our breads, including our signature sandwich loaves. By milling whole grains fresh for each bake, we keep the flavor, aroma, and richness you simply don’t get from shelf flour.

Our growing bread lineup includes:

  • Artisan sourdough bread
  • Fresh-milled sandwich loaves
  • New York–style boiled bagels
  • Focaccia
  • Brioche buns
  • Seasonal and specialty breads
  • Pizza and flatbread doughs

Our sourdough breads are naturally fermented, baked in small batches, and made with a combination of fresh-milled whole grains and carefully selected artisan flours. From classic sourdough to rotating flavors like jalapeño cheddar, rye, roasted garlic rosemary, and sun-dried tomato herb, every loaf is shaped by time, patience, and craft.

This is bread built for real life—family dinners, sandwiches, toast, gatherings, and everyday tables.

Scratch-Made Pastries & Desserts

Bread may be our foundation, but the pastry cases are still full of the desserts and baked goods Farm to Cake has become known for throughout Waynesville and Western North Carolina.

Depending on the day, you’ll find:

  • Éclairs and cream puffs
  • Cheesecakes and cakes by the slice
  • Hand pies and turnovers
  • Cookies and brownies
  • Danish pastries
  • Cinnamon rolls
  • Seasonal pastries and desserts
  • Specialty cakes and custom orders

Everything is made in-house in small batches using real ingredients and traditional baking methods.

Breakfast, Lunch & Savory Foods

We also offer a growing selection of savory grab-and-go foods designed for busy families and everyday meals.

Offerings may include:

  • Quiche
  • Strata
  • Chicken pot pies
  • Sandwiches on our fresh-milled breads
  • Soups
  • Flatbreads and pizzas
  • Family meal options
  • Fresh pasta and prepared foods

Our goal is simple: real food for real people.

About

Farm to Cake Bakery didn’t change overnight. Instead, it evolved—slowly, thoughtfully, and with intention.

For many years, we focused on weddings, events, and life’s biggest celebrations. During that time, we were honored to help mark milestones and special moments. However, as seasons changed and conversations with our customers deepened, we began to realize something important: the food people eat every day matters just as much as the food saved for special occasions.

Because of that realization, our focus shifted.

Today, Farm to Cake Bakery is centered on everyday nourishment. Rather than baking only for milestones, we now bake for daily life—fresh, nourishing foods meant to support your family, your routine, and your well-being. After all, everyday meals deserve the same care, craftsmanship, and intention as celebrations.

As we step into a new year, we are leaning fully into what we love most—and what you’ve been asking for most: really good bread.

Although we’ve loved everything we bake, this year marks a renewed commitment to bread made the right way. Therefore, we are expanding our bread operations and dedicating more time, space, and energy to fresh bread made with real ingredients. Our goal is to grow thoughtfully and, by spring, offer a full, well-rounded bread menu designed for everyday tables.

At the same time, some things remain unchanged.

Our promise has always been—and will continue to be—fresh-milled, thoughtfully made, and baked with care. Because bread should nourish you, not just fill you. Using fresh-milled flour allows us to keep the grain whole, the flavor honest, and the food meaningful.

Just as importantly, we believe baking is a conversation.

So, we want to hear from you. What do you want to see more of? What breads belong at your table? By listening to our community, we can bake food that truly fits into everyday life. In this way, this year is about baking with our community, not just for it.

Because just as there’s no better feeling for a farmer than fresh soil falling through their fingers, there’s nothing more grounding for a baker than fresh-milled flour running through theirs.

That connection—to the land, to real food, and to the people we serve—is at the heart of everything we do.

Ultimately, we invite you to stop in, see what’s coming out of the oven, and be part of what’s ahead. Our bread offerings are growing, our schedule is expanding, and more nourishing, everyday bread is coming this spring.

The Farm to Cake Philosophy

The name “Farm to Cake” holds a special meaning to us. It signifies our deep connection to the Waynesville Farmers Market, which serves as a profound inspiration. Just as farmers find joy in freshly plowed soil, we find our bliss in the gentle sifting of flour through our hands. We take pride in being scratch bakers. Real food for real people, from seed to slice.
